This weekend we went to Chicago for a visit. Thursday we went to see the Chicago Symphony perform some awful German music. Saturday we saw my beloved Michigan State Spartans defeat the Northwestern Wildcats 41-38. Just when I want them to lose they go out and win. It never ends does it?
We stayed at Hotel 71, which bills itself as a modern hotel in terms of decor.

Notice the television in the bathroom. The shower was a dream but I say nothing, nothing at all.
We went for a stroll on Michigan Ave. and this was one of the lovely pictures we took.

On Thursday we dined at a lovely little French place called Brasserie Jo. We both enjoyed French Onion Soup, I had roast pork with swiss chard and rosemary roasted potatos, Janna dined on homemade pasta with wild mushrooms in a bechamel sauce.
We enjoyed a nice nighttime stroll to the Symphony Hall.
Friday greeted us with a lovely blue sky and with this blue sky we decided to go for a walk and take more pictures, this one of the Wrigley Building.

For Lunch we ate at Pizzeria Due. I enjoyed a lovely sausage pizza while Janna munched on a pesto with four cheese pizza.
After an afternoon of shopping we headed over to the John Hancock Building.
While at the Hancock Building we had drinks at the Signature Room on the 96th floor. For those of you who haven't been up there before I strongly encourage you to do so.
After drinks at the Signature Room we headed to the real purpose of the evening, Morton's. Here we dined on many lovely things including smoked salmon. For dinner, Janna and I split the double porterhouse cooked a perfect medium rare. It was 48oz's of pure joy. With dinner, Janna had asparagus which she will tell you was quite good, I had potato skins which were quite tasty. For desert, we split a hot chocolate cake which was the perfect ending to a lovely meal.
Saturday we headed over to Ryan Field to watch the football game. MSU was down 38-3 in the second half.
Only to come back and win 41-38. Just when you think John L. Smith is going to be fired they pull off a victory. I want to vomit all over the place.

The fine dining, delightful German music, and sightseeing no doubt made up for a dismal sports experience. It's so cute watching you and Janna be foodies together.
And I too am outraged that breakfast was not commented on.

No, they have them for desert with ice cream and a lovely chocolate sauce.
