Swiming Hippopotamus Club

Janna has joined the Swiming Hippopotamus Club which meets at the MAC every Tuesday and Thursday. What is the Swiming Hippopotamus Club you ask? It's a swim class for pregnant women, apparently it's supposed to be good for them or something. Needless to say, Janna enjoys her classes and I enjoy taking her there. It helps that while the hippos are stomping around the pool I get to do my workouts. What we won't do for little Stuart eh?

Oh and for those of you who are thinking to yourself something like 'I told Janna not to marry that Jewish jerk,' Janna and I chuckled about me putting together this post. I'll hear none of it from the peanut gallary.

Yes, for those of the readership who are outraged on my behalf... I think this description is hilarious and spot on. I love the class, and am very grateful that I can attend. That said, a bunch of very pregnant women floating around, doing what appears to be synchronized swimming, IS very comical. I'll be the first one to say it. :-)

I think my old physical therapist teaches that class. She recommended it to me when I was pregnant with Owen. I did not go, but I bet it is relaxing on the muscles.

It doesn't exactly set a clear Christian emphasis on honoring women and pregnancy. And that's something we definitely need to be doing in our culture.

I think that they should really make tu-tus mandatory to participate. That would make it way more fun.

Ok, ok folks. Good job jumping to my defense, but it's unnecessary. This is yet another case of the internet hindering rather than helping- clearly this didn't come across to some of you as a joke, which is what it was.

My husband does respect women in general (and me in particular), and honors pregnancy in a culture that rejects life. If I had been offended by the dancing hippo reference, he definitely wouldn't say it, let alone post it. I knew it was just a joke and I thought it was funny.

Calm down. It's ok. :-)

BTW, Lydia, there are two or three ladies who take turns teaching the class. What is your former PT's name? I've probably met her. The class is great. And it's VERY relaxing! They let you try out one session for free - you should come!

And Maggie is right - the tutus would be great! :-D

I think her name is Kistemaker?? And to be clear, Nate and I did not find offense in this post. He clearly stated it was a joke, and it was clearly done with Janna's understanding that it is funny. I'd have to say, in my large days of pregnancy, hippo would describe me well. ;) Women can get too touchy about weight during pregnancy. These tend to be the women who drop every last pound they gained after the baby is born anyways. Arrggg.

I think pregnant women are beautiful. Really.

I also think they lie to me. ;-) But I say nothing!

Oh Maggie - I'd never lie to you!

Well, except for that one time... and that other time... Oh fine, you've made your point! ;-)
